Helping People Sustain Earth's Natural Resources with Innovative Solutions

Staff

GEOLOGISTS, ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERS, and DESIGNERS

HTG formed in 2009 to serve commercial, state, and federal customers with innovative, technically-sound solutions. While the business is fairly new, our personnel bring an average of over 20 years’ of experience in the industry to every project.

water resources exploration and management; stream assessment and restoration; highway and air transport environmental impacts; karst (sinkhole); geotechnical, dewatering and mine drainageMichael D. Haufler
Licensed Professional Geologist

Mr. Haufler serves as both the President and Director of Technical Services for the Hydro-Terra Group.  He has been solving environmental resource problems for the past 20 years, encompassing a wide range of challenges in assessment, construction, restoration, and management.  He has expertise in water resources exploration and management; stream assessment and restoration; highway and air transport environmental impacts; karst (sinkhole); geotechnical, dewatering and mine drainage; and hazardous and non-hazardous contamination, including petroleum hydrocarbons, solvents, PCBs, glycol, and salt.  He has developed testing and evaluation protocols unique in natural resources studies, and his remedial designs have been patented.  His presentations and testimony enable technical understanding toward reasonable solutions in environmental resources.  Mr. Haufler serves as senior technical manager for the Hydro-Terra Group.

Licensed Professional Geologist

Mr. Lindaw serves as the Hydro-Terra Group Director of Operations and has over 20 years of experience as a project geologist, project manager, or principal investigator on site characterization studies, remedial investigation/feasibility study (RI/FS) projects, underground storage tank (UST) closures/modifications, hydrogeologic studies, and water/wastewater construction projects.  He has extensive field operations and management experience in interfacing with staff and subcontractors, including scheduling of field activities and coordination of subcontractors.  In addition to his diverse field experience, Mr. Lindaw is distinguished by his technical reporting documentation for submission of reports, permit applications, proposals, and other deliverables in a timely manner.

hydrogeologic investigations for the purpose of siting water-supply wells, defining the hydraulic properties of aquifers, and determining the effects on the environment and other water users due to the pumping of ground waterThomas R. Mills
Licensed Professional Engineer & Professional Geologist

Mr. Mills has 40 years of professional experience in the geotechnology and environmental fields. During his career, he managed interdisciplinary teams of consultants in several parts of the U.S. working on private- and government-sector projects dealing mainly with soil and ground-water contamination, water-resource development, earth engineering, land reclamation, and water-pollution control. He has performed environmental investigations to characterize environmental conditions and assess risks, and has designed and implemented remedial measures addressing soil and ground-water contamination problems. Mr. Mills also has conducted hydrogeologic investigations for the purpose of siting water-supply wells, defining the hydraulic properties of aquifers, and determining the effects on the environment and other water users due to the pumping of ground water. Furthermore, he has completed geotechnical investigations required in the construction of earthworks, the assessment of geologic hazards, the reclamation of mined land, and the landfilling of solid wastes.
